Arts for the Kingdom

Arts for the Kingdom is a new ministry and outreach opportunity at First Presbyterian Church. We will be exhibiting visual arts, crafts, poetry, and sculpture. This concept gives artisans in our church an opportunity to display their gifts and talents. Eventually we hope to expand showings/exhibits by inviting and involving the local community. Our desire is that the work of an artist’s hands will then become an extended blessing to others.

Themed exhibits will be run in eight week increments. Each new exhibit will have an opening night, which will allow musicians, poets, and actors in our church to exercise their gifts as well. All Artwork will be displayed in the church office building for seven weeks after the opening night, after which time it will either be returned to the artist or, if purchased, to the buyer. Artwork will be available for purchase with the transaction being only between artist and buyer (not involving the church). Each art entry will be juried and accompanied by a suggested donation amount, a percentage of which will be used to support some of our current outreach and ministry projects (to be determined according to funding needs of the ministries).

The hope of this ministry is to create a new community outreach through this church involvement with the arts. We are hoping to expand this ministry even further in the summer season by offering art workshops free of charge to the community.
