Genesis (Beginnings)
2012. A new year. It feels like starting over…..beginning. Some face the new year with anticipation and eagerness. Others dread it and wish they could hide. Either way we all have questions as the calendar turns. Questions like, “What will this year hold? Will my hopes be reached or wrecked?” As a church, we believe that with all the unknowns about the new year, there is at least one constant, one ever-present reality, one sure foundation. GOD.
It is fitting then that as the page flips to reveal January 1, we open our Bibles to Genesis 1. “In the beginning….” Some will face it with anticipation and eagerness. Others with hesitation and fear. Either way, we all have questions. “How does creation as revealed in Scripture relate to our observations and theories in science? Will God’s hopes for His creation be reached or wrecked?” With all the questions about Genesis, there is one constant, one ever-present reality, one sure foundation. GOD.
The fact is that Genesis is not just about theology, or seeking to answer questions about origins, no more than a new year is merely about asking questions and wondering what will happen. Genesis (and each new year) is about life…..all life……our lives. The real question (of this new year, and of Genesis) is, “Will I live with God, by God, and for God in God’s world?”
Join us on Sunday mornings at 9:30 or 11:00 as we begin our sermon series in Genesis, and journey on with us as a church, as together in this new year, with God, by God, and for God, we discover what He has planned for us.
